Assoc. Dr. Barbers and hairdressers were screened for hepatitis by Şükran Köse and her team.
In cooperation with the Provincial Health Directorate, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, İzmir Chamber of Barbers and Hairdressers and district municipalities, hepatitis B-C screening and allergy testing, which are free of charge, were applied to all barbers and hairdressers in İzmir.
Before the hepatitis B-C and allergy screening, a seminar was given to the barbers and hairdressers about the identification of occupational health problems, the diseases they may encounter during their professional practice, and the ways to protect themselves from these diseases.
Stating that hairdressers and barbers are exposed to many chemicals during their professional practice, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Clinic Allergy-Immunology Unit Clinical Chief Assoc. Dr. Şükran Köse said, "Barbers and hairdressers should take measures to protect themselves against these diseases. Regardless of the conditions, it is our duty to take care of the health of the people around us. We would like to thank all the officials and mayors who supported us in this application, which we have organized for the first time. We continue our efforts to prevent this disease in all our provinces by reaching large masses.
